Rare, 0.05% of major trauma

Prior C-section or penetrating trauma  increases risk

Full thickness rupture causes massive hemoperitoneum

  • High maternal (10%) and fetal (100%) mortality

Obstetrical emergency 

  • Often requiring hysterectomy
